In recent years, the PLA fiber which is made from some renewable resources such as corn starch was getting more and more attention of the people in the fiber industry, because of its fully biodegradable, excellent performance, a wide range of applications, significant environmental and social benefits. To further understand the PLA fiber's spinning performance and PLA yarn performance, this paper describes the details of the testing process and the performance of the PLA fiber and the yarn. The experiment tests the basic properties of the PLA fiber, including the fiber's length, fineness, tensile strength, moisture regain, and the friction coefficient and so on. Through the analysis of experimental data, the PLA fiber's characteristics are discussed, the variety of impact factors of the Fiber Properties are summarized, particularly the single fiber strength in the normal state, wetting and drying state under high temperature were tested and compared, get the impact to the PLA fiber of moisture and temperature, provide a theoretical basis to the PLA fiber's spinning. Dosome the basic tests to the PLA yarn, including twist, fineness, strength and fuzzy fiber. Analyzed the results and summarized the impact of various factors yarn. While a more detailed comparison of the properties was made between the PLA fiber and the common fiber, then described the PLA fiber's special properties, biodegradable properties, antibacterial properties, absorbable by human body, good machine-finishing performance, comfortable performance, UV-resistant, flame-retardant properties and so on, a series of basic properties which is superior to other commonly used synthetic fiber. The PLA fiber's technology performance and the application prospects in the textile field ware reviewed. This paper also uses the PLA fiber's combustion characteristics, the dissolution characteristics and the cross-section shape, do some fiber identification experiment, and has developed the PLA fiber's identification procedures for reference. While summing up the PLA fibers' research state and the existing problems on the current situation at home and abroad, by using the PLA fiber excellent performance, positive research, make efforts to reduce the production costs, create the conditions for mass application..
