The Process of boiling and bleaching for flax roving is the most critical process in flax spinning, and plays a decisive role. The main chemical components of flax fiber is cellulose, also contain hemi-cellulose, lignin, pectin, waxy fat and other impurities. Other chemical components are not helpful to spinning process except for cellulose. Flax roving has large of impurities and low count, so it is unfit for fine yarn processing. The purpose of boiling and bleaching is to remove pectin, lignin and other impurities, and increase the splitting and spin ability of flax fiber. After the process of boiling and bleaching for the flax roving, the linkage among fibers is weakened, the fibers can be split into more finely bundle, which will improve the quality of yarn. At present, the boiling and bleaching process of sodium chlorite and hydrogen peroxide is used more commonly. However, chemical reagents are used in this process, such as sodium chlorate, not only is corrosive and high requirements to equipment, but also let off large of poisonous gases - chlorine dioxide, which can make working atmosphere poor and endanger the health of workers, also seriously pollute the environment. Therefore, this process has been unable to meet the people's demands for environmental protection. The starting point of this issue is to abolish the use of sodium chlorat, and find a boiling and bleaching process, which simultaneously satisfies the requirements of the greenism and spinning systems. The hydrogen peroxide is a good bleach agent, which can make the white content of fabric and fiber lasting and not yellowed after its bleaching processing. Besides, the hydrogen peroxide is not corrosive to equipment and do not harm to environment. Although hydrogen peroxide is used in the boiling and bleaching process of sodium chlorite and hydrogen peroxide, it is only playing a supplementary role without showing its strengths. Therefore, this issue uses hydrogen peroxide as a major boiling and bleaching agent, and hopingly explores an appropriate process of boiling and bleaching for flax roving.Firstly, the paper discusses the factors such as the main chemical reagent consumption, temperature, time and others which influence the results. Then, according to the single-factor experiments, determines the range of uses of every factor. After that, this paper adopts orthogonal experiment method, compares the results such as fiber tensile strength, white content, weight loss, splitting and so on, and optimizes the best technology parameters. Comprehensively analyses the affect on the results, and obtains the optimal process. Then validated test proves the optimal process is reliable. The paper optimizes the entire process of boiling and bleaching for flax. Finally, the optimal process is put into practice to verify its feasibility. After research, three possible technical processes of scouring and bleaching for flax roving, which could be practical and feasible, were obtained. The shortest process was put into practice, and the results showed, except for white content, other indexes were almost equivalent to those obtained by existing method. Therefore, to some extent, the process is feasible.
