On The Construction Of Book Design Morphology

This paper mainly elaborates the thinking on the construction of book design morphology, based on the analysis of the current situation of book design and on the research of relative theories such as book design and art morphology. It explains the construction of book design morphology from angles of material, form and structure, component, constitution type, respectively, using contrasting, citing and illustrating. It also discusses the role of each part in the whole structure, as well as the active and dynamopathic relations among different parts and the whole. This paper suggests that book design morphology shall focus on the research of forms of different parts observable to editors, designers as well as readers, and considers book design morphology as a science that studies the relations between morphologic elements, structure and the whole book. This paper should provide theoretic foundation for the establishment of book design morphology system and offer beneficial inspirations to the book design.
