Because of high-purity aluminum foil' softer texture, adhesion aluminum and scratches and oil stain often appeared on its surface during the cold rolling process. These were directly related to properties of using aluminum foil rolling oil. To eliminate and decrease these defects, oxidation stabilities and tribological properties of the oil were studied in this paper,in order to improve comprehensive properties of rolling lube oil.Physicochemical properties and chemical composition and oxidation stabilities and tribological properties of rolling base oil and rolling oil for high-purity aluminum foil were tested by the gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer, the UV spectrophotometer, the SH0206 oxidation stabilizer, the MRS-10A four-ball tribo-tester. The results showed as below:The using base oil for rolling high-purity aluminum foil was high cycloalkane base oil, whose cycloalkane content was 68.3 percent. The oil' oxidation stabilities became worse because the tertiary carbon atoms and adjacent atoms, which were connected with the ring in cycloalkane, were oxidized easily when they contacted with molecular oxygen. Friction-reducing properties and anti-wear properties of the rolling oil, which was made by base oil, were worse.To the deficiencies of using rolling oil for high-purity aluminum foil, comprehensive researches of improving its properties were carried. The results showed as below:(1) By infrared spectrum' analysis, the results showed that the oil' oxidation belonged to free-radical chain reaction. Acid, ester and aldehyde, et al were produced during the process of oxidation. According to this mechanism, phenol antioxidant was choosed and could clean free radicals during the process of oxidation. During the cold rolling process, the aluminum powders produced had a catalytic effect on the oxidation of rolling oil, so metal deactivator was choosed and could passivate the activities of metal surface. Their compounds remarkably improved the oxidation stability of the oil and extended its service life.(2) Additives are effective to improve tribological properties of rolling oils. By optimized compounding technology, more than 10 additives' formulas were produced by mixed long-chain fatty alcohols and fatty acid esters in this paper. On the basis of studies of many experiments, their comprehensive properties were evaluated according to adsorption properties of polar molecules. The results showed that kinds of long-chain fatty acid esters' mixtures were able to remarkably improve its tribological properties and its annealing detergence was better.The formulation, which had better comprehensive properties in the laboratory evaluation, was choosed. The rolling industry experiment was carried in mill, the results showed that the lube oil made adhesion aluminum and scratches and oil stain least on the high-purity aluminum foil' surface and was able to remarkably improve its surface qualities.There is an instructional significance on improving comprehensive properties of rolling oil for high-purity aluminum foil in this paper. The research achievements have been applied in the practical industrial production and have achieved good results.
