Large diameter circular knitting machine is a typical complexelectromechanical machine which involves a lot of technology in control,electron area. In recent years, fast development of China's knittingindustry calls for large diameter circular knitting machine in greatdemand. With the development of micro-processor technology, embeddedsystem has been widely used in industrial control field.Recent years, embedded technology develops rapidly, and itsapplications depend on GUI more and more.Friendly graphics GUI providesabundant graphics and image information for embedded system. uC/GUI isan embedded GUI software, which both can implement rapidly developmentapplication program and can save embedded system resources.User candesign own graphics GUI with uC/GUI expediently,and complete all kindsof application programs. So it has been more and more used in the field.Based on the analysis of function and control requirements of thesystem, the project proposes a design of an embedded control system onARM and CPLD for the circular knitting machine.This hardware platforms in the program by the host CPU coreapplications circuit, interactive interface circuit, CPLD coprocessormodule circuit.S3C44B0X processor based on ARM7 core of Samsung is appliedas CPU. For the problem of Closed-loop control, we apply CPLD chips asthe expansion to form the implement circuit of process, which play as thecoprocessor.Software platform includes Boot Loader, device driver, man-machineinterface and control application. Boot Loader can support System-Boot,program download to RAM and execution, burning to flash memory and soon.The man-machine interface and applications are based on device driverrealized circular knitting machine control system. Compared to control system based on MCU or IPC, this control systembased on the design of the program is low-cost, highly integrated andhigh-performance characteristics, It will have great practical value andbroad prospect for application.
