KH2PO4 (abbr. KDP) crystal, a kind of photoelectric function material, is widely used in the laser techniques, due to its outstanding optical performance, especially its higher Laser Damage Threshold. And, up to now, KDP type crystal is the only nonlinear optical material that can be used in the ICF (Inertial Confinement Fusion). KDP crystals are usually grown by lowering temperature method in solution, so the solution stability plays a key role in the KDP crystal growth process, that is, it not only can affect optical quality of the crystal, but also the formation of defects, such as the growth stripes, dislocations inclusions, and so on. The problem is how the solution stability plays its role in rapid crystal growth. Based on this, our work have been tried to solve it. It was Conical Bottom Device that was used in our experiment during rapid growth with point seed. By means of the optical microscope, SEM, ICP-OES etc. we analyzed the correlation between the crystal growth process and the defects including dislocations and inclusions. Our results showed that the Conical Bottom Device is very helpful to control the solution stability. Our work provided useful information both for further optimizing the crystal growth technology and for the rapid growth of the KDP crystal in aqueous solution. |
