As a superb electro-optic nonlinear optical crystal material on all aspects, KDP crystal is widely used in some areas like laser frequency conversion, fast optic shutters, etc. In recent years, with the development of its major technical applications in high-power laser system, the requirement for the optics, quality, size and quantity of KDP crystal also enhances unceasingly. This situation leads to higher request for preparative technique and device of the KDP crystal.Current unsystematic and normative study on KDP crystal growth device, designs a kind of crystal efficient growth device which applies to large-size KDP crystal. The device can provide the hardware conditions that KDP crystal’s growth needs, which will help produce large-size and fast-growth high-optical-quality KDP crystal.According to the KDP crystal growth characteristics and the desired size and optical quality of the crystal, the design selects solution method as the crystal growth method, uses circulating flowing solution to ensure the stability of the solution and supply of raw materials what the crystal’s growth needs, and then designs the trislot crystal-growth device.Crystal-growth device mainly consists of3parts which are crystal-growth trough, dissolving tank and overheat slot. Crystal-growth trough provides the actual environment for the crystal growth, dissolving tank guarantee the supply of raw materials while the overheat slot are used to improve stability of solution. The device parts which contact the solution will use PMMA or tight lined PTFE as anti-corrosion treatment to ensure the service life of the device at the same time, and more importantly to ensure the quality of the growth-solution.To ensure the crystal size, quality and growth rate, we design the seed-crystal plane in detail which is optimized as well. To ensure the growth temperature, solution concentration and temperature balance, the water bath box device, stirrer and auxiliary device are designed.Through the existing materials and experimental verification, it can be inferred that the design can provide the hardware conditions that KDP crystal’s growth needs, ensure the quality of solution that helps the crystal grow, then it will Conditions for rapid growth of high-optical-quality KDP crystal with the size of550×550×800mm3.
