Flexible Cold Roll Forming Control System Design

Cold roll forming is a plastic manufacturing method which is based on sheet metal or strip stock, assembles many stands to construct a forming machine then to bend and deform the stock gradually to form products with homogeneous section. When the section of the product changes regularly during roll-forming, it is called flexible roll-forming.Comparing with the traditional production, the changeable section production made by the flexible roll-forming technology, can enhance the bearing force of the sheet material, decrease the construction weight, reduce the production cost, and improve the production efficiency of mass productions.The purpose of this research is to construct the control system of flexible roll-forming which is the key part of the single-axis flexible roll-forming machine designed by North China University of Technology.Basing on the analysis of the working process about the single-axis flexible roll-forming machine, the motion control laws of the rollers are obtained, and then the control law is put forward. The framework and control mode are established which using the PXI controller as it's controller and controlling the displacement and velocity of the servo motors.After the control framework being established, the control logic of electric power and the connection between the PXI controller and the servo-motors are designed, which constitute the power distribution cabinet. Having connected the cabinet, the system debug is accomplished., the control program basing on NI Labview is programmed to produce sheet with different sections and trajectory.According to mass production with different section and trajectory, the precision analysis of the samples are given, and the research direction for the future is indicated.
