Comparing with constant-cross-section profiles, the variable-cross-section profiles of roll-forming have the advantages of better mechanical properties and smaller quantity of materials. Nowadays, the mode of economic development should be more effective, more energy-efficient and more environmental, and the distinct advantages of the variable cross-section profiles made the research of flexible roll-forming be the hot spots of sheet metal forming.In order to improve the forming quality, the number of mechanical units has been increased from three to nine, which composing of multiple-units single-axis roll-forming machine. In this thesis, analyze and improvement have been made to the design of the electrical control cabinet, such as anti-disturbance design, convenience electric circuit design for debugging. In order to meet the servo control demand of the multiple units, the information of the mechanical structure and sensors have been used to build the Virtual-Instrument-based measurement and control system for multiple units roll-forming。After the electrical control cabinet being made, the basic characteristics of single servo motor and synchronous servo motors have been tested, and the control mode has been decided. The mechanical transmission precision has been measured by using high-accuracy sensors to provide the base for high-accuracy control. The analysis of no-load running of the units provides good experience for forming.The control system realization of multi-unit single-axis roll forming machine provides the research platform for high-accuracy roll-forming study.
