Polypyrrolone possess thermal stabilities and excellent mechanical properties as high-performance materials. These polymers have extensive delocalizedĪ€-electron structure and, therefore, have been considered as one of the most promising semiconducting polymer materials in the field of optoelectronic device applications. However, many applications of polypyrrolone polymers are based on their thin films in previous reports, so it's very significant to prepare polypyrrolone nanofibers. In this work, two types of polypyrrolone precursor were synthesized from two different aromatic dianhydrides and aromatic tetraamines by polycondensation. Polypyrrolone nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning polypyrrolone precursors and then heat cure of polypyrrolone precursor nanofibers. The polypyrrolone nanofibers were characterized by SEM, IR, UV-vis and XRD, respectively. The effects of solution concentrations, electrospinning processing parameters (voltage, capillary-screen distance, inner diameter of the spinneret) and quantemary ammonium salt on the morphology and diameter of polypyrrolone precursor nanofibers formed were systematically studied. The optimum preparing conditions of polypyrrolone fibers were obtained. The experimental results showed that the concentration and voltage are the most keys to form polypyrrolone precursor nanofibers. The addition of quantemary ammonium salt reduces the minimum solution concentration that can form nanofibers.
