Along with rapid development of iron and steel industry in our country, the environmental pollution also became increasingly prominent. The main problem is the SO2 pollution, but the SO2 which emit in the agglutination production accounts for about 60% of total emission. To reduce the SO2 release quantity, the present research on sulfur solidifying in the agglomerate, discharges from the blast furnace by the slag, trying to solve the SO2 emissions fundamentally in order to meet the environmental protection.A kind of new small agglutination experiment equipment has been invented in the research, existence condition and distributed rule of sulfur in agglomerate were studied by using this equipment. The influence of the solid sulfur rate through adding the active lime in agglutination and the change regulation of agglomerate metallurgy performance after solid sulfur were studied by using sintering pot.Analyses through the internal microstructure, mineral composition of sinters by SEM, EDS, XRD and optical microscope, we find that sulfur mainly existed in the form of CaS, which distributed in sinters'pores area.When adding active lime in the solid sulfur experiment, the mixture ratio of active lime is 4%, the solid sulfur rate increases stablely by the activity of lime increasing, the solid sulfur rate is 52.33% as the activity of lime is 92℃·min-1.When adding active lime in the solid sulfur experiment, the activity of lime is 92℃·min-1, the solid sulfur rate increase stablely by the mixture ratio of active lime increasing. The solid sulfur rate is 60.96% as the mixture ratio is 5%.By using active lime solid sulfur, the intensity, yield and metallurgy performance of agglomerate are improved. When addition of the active lime is 4%, the agglomerate intensity, yield and softening point reach optimal value. As the activity of lime increasing, the intensity of agglomerate is better, the softening temperature is high, softening area reduces and the RDI+3.15 increases which in favor of blast furnace smelting process.
