By investigating the difference of metallurgical properties between vanadium-titanium sinter and common sinter,the mechanism of reflow behavior of vanadium-titanium sinter is explained,and there are obvious differences between the reflow process of vanadium-titanium sinter and common sinter.The changes of microstructure of ordinary sinter and vanadium-titanium sinter were analyzed.The reduction process of titanium iron oxide in vanadium-titanium sinter,the migration rule of each element and the reduction phase transformation process were clarified.Firstly,the thermodynamic calculations of possible reactions among the components were carried out to determine the order of the reactions.Then,the vanadium-titanium sinter was reduced and cooled under different temperature conditions.XRD,optical microscope,SEM-EDS and other equipment were used,The microstructure of the sinter after reduction was analyzed and the results of the thermodynamic calculations were verified.Finally,the conclusions as follows:1)The reduction and pulverization of common sinter mainly occurs in the stage of400600?.The lowest RDI+3.15at 500?i s 83.80%.The vanadium-titanium sinter is the most reductive and pulverized at 700?with RDI+3.15of 41.94%.2)Vanadium-titanium sinter softening start temperature is high,softening temperature is relatively low,the softening range is narrower,dripping temperature is low,liquid viscosity,dripping difficult and vanadium-titanium sinter is far less than the average permeability of ordinary sinter.3)The process of vanadium-titanium sinter reduction is complex,and all the titanium hematite is reduced to titanium magnetite in the early stage of reduction.Titanium magnetite reduction of a large number of ore restored to form a combination of TiO2 and ilmenite,with non-reduced magnetite to form titanium magnetite solid solution,ilmenite and titanium magnetite solid solution are high melting point compounds,limiting the reduction of titanium iron oxides.
