Greenhouse Gas like carbon dioxide is the major reason causing global warming. All of the major countries are striving to resolve this challenge. From Kyoto Protocol to "Bali Roadmap", the international society is looking for a desired market mechanism to coordinate resources among countries, save the energy, and reduce the emission efficiently. Carbon trading is a new environmental financial instrument in the global market, which has seen a huge trading volume. Although China has no obligation to reduce greenhouse gas, it is the largest CDM project provider in the world, which creates the demand to establish a domestic carbon trading platform. This thesis is written from the perspective of climate exchange house. After taking a close look into the global carbon market and the development of local CDM project in China and combining the experience from other foreign leading exchange houses, this thesis provides a feasible proposal for establishing a carbon trading platform for the newly founded Shanghai Energy & Environment Exchange. |
