This article makes a study of method to treat waste water from ore dressing in a Pb-Zn mine and makes a test to reuse treated waste water for ore dressing.It's one of the choices that the Pb-Zn Mine realizes waste water zero draining.The study shows that,when the simulated waste water is treated with PFS-FeSO4,clearance of xanthate in the waste water increases by the increase of usage of PFS-FeSO4 and decreases by the increase of pH value of the waste water.When the pH value increases from 5 to 11.6, the clearance of xanthate decreases from 82.15%to 10.78%.Clearance of CODcr in the simulated waste water increases by the increase of usage of PFS-FeSO4.The clearance of CODcr increases from 25.39%to 49.48%when the usage of PFS-FeSO4 increases from 24.52 mg·L-1 to 98.08 mg·L-1.If the usage of PFS-FeSO4 is increased to 147.12 mg·L-1,the clearance of CODcr is 51.51%.If the chemical agent is replaced by PFS-FeSO4,the clearance of CODcr is only 31.1%.Active carbon is put into the simulated waste water after it is treated by the PFS-FeSO4.The clearance of CODcr increases by the increase of usage of active carbon powder.When the usage of activated carbon powder is 100 mg·L-1,the clearance of CODcr reaches 70.39%and residual CODcr is 13.65 mg·L-1.When the usage of activated carbon particles is up to 2000 mg·L-1,the clearance of CODcr is only 20.16%.If the waste water is treated by activated carbon powder after it is treated by the PFS-FeSO4,clearance of Cu and Pb reaches 100%and decolourization ratio reaches 98.43%and turbidity is zero and the clearance of CODcr reaches 89.85%.Above result shows that the method of treating waste water from ore dressing in Pb-Zn mine by PFS-FeSO4 and activated carbon is good of easy operation and low cost and good result.It's valuable to be applied to Pb-Zn mine.The results of Zn-Pb ore dressing are same by using tap water or treated water from ore dressing in the same conditon.By using treated water in Zn-Pb ore dressing,both grade of Zn-Pb concentrate and coefficient of recovery can reach same index as that gotten by using tap water.So the waste water,after it is treated,can be used in the ore dressing.
