Increase iron-ore production of high purity iron concentrate grade is a dominant way for iron-ore dressing at present.However,most of the domestic iron ore companies used the traditional fatty amine anions and cations flotation process,process indicators for poor,pharmaceutical costs are high,poor selectivity,difficult to obtain high purity iron ore products.Between this,this study was to find a new cationic collector with better selectivity and collectability than alkyl amine to realize the selective flotation of silica from the iron ore.A series of flotation tests using dodecylamine,dodecyl tertiary amine and dodecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride(1231) on quartz and limonite and iron ores have been carried out,such as the flotation of pure minerals,the flotation separation of mixtuers,the batch and pilot flotation tests on iron ores.And carried out a explore inhibitors studied for the quartz and limonite anti-selective flotation separation problem of the poor.The mechanism of the interaction between the reagents and minerals was also studied.In the pH range of 6~12,the results of the flotation tests indicate that the performance of the comibined cationic collector(DDA:1231=1:1) is similar,and they are effective collectors for reverse flotation of the iron ores.The combined cationic collectors exhibited the same collectability as dodecylamine,but better selectivity than dodecylamine.By using the combined collector,the dosage of the collector decerased.The limonite was depressed by using qubracho as the depressant of the iron minerals.The combined collector(DDA:1231=1:1)was successfully applied to separate quartz from limonite by reverse flotation.A concentrate with a grade of 58.35%TFe and the recovery of 83.19%TFe was yielded from a feed with a grade of 48.53%TFe and 22.04%SiO2.The separation of quartz from limonite was achieved by the addition of quebracho as iron mineral's depressant.A concentrate with a grade of 59.79%TFe and the recovery of 76.61%TFe was obtained from a feed with a grade of 48.34%TFe and 22.74%SiO2.The reverse flotation tests have also shown that at the same consenturlate dosing volume of amine in Roughing,when half the amount of medicine in sweep the election by using the new combination collectors(DDA:1231= 1:1 )as dodecylamine,the grade of iron concentrate from the original 58.45%to 59.25%,iron recovery rate we have the original 80.30%to 83.43%.Therefore, the combination of pharmaceutical iron election results better.The modern measurement techniques,such as contact angle,Zeta-potential,adsorption determination and FT-IR measuiements,were depressants on the action menchamism of the combined collectors and the depressants on the minerals.The results showed that the new combined collectors absorb on the quartz surface prior to the surfaces of limonite,and change the contact angles and the Zeta potentials of quzrtz more markedly than the limonite,and this is probably the reasons for the differences of hydrophobicity of the quartz and the iron minerals, and confirm the reverse flotation separation of quartz from the iron minerals on the basis of flotation theories.At the same time,the results of FT-IR measurments also proved that the apsorption type because there was no new products on the suiface of the minerals.The addition of quebracho increased the hydrophilicity of the iron minerals,and changed their zeta potentials markedly,and improved the reverse flotation separation of quartz from limonite.
