The production of ammonia is mostly characterized by high temperature, high pressure, cryogenic, continuous, automation and large-scaling.Producing equipments of raw materials and products are mostly flammable, explosive, poisonous, deleterious and caustic, and so, there are more dangerous and harmful factors during the process of ammonia compared with others. These dangerous and harmful factors may turn into all kinds of accidents resulting in threatening peoples life and causing property loss, even leading to severe environmental pollution because of man-made errors, violating operation rule, poor equipment management and aged disrepair.In this paper, by analyzing current situation of synthetic ammonia enterprises, the dangerous and harmful factors, identification of major hazard sources, simulative calculation of damage degree of major hazard and comparison analyses of typical enterprises' concrete accident, we find the common problems of synthetic ammonia enterprises that the staff's instability behavior and the matter's instability factors are the main cause of accidents and. and so, the preventive methods of accident is enterprises' quick examination, strengthening hidden hazards control, strengthening the staff's safety behavior, correction of the staff's abnormal behavior accident, so as to effective prevention and control of human accidents. by using safety technical equipment, improving level of informationization in enterprises, decreasing the matter's instability factors and equipment' sudden accident is to provide assistance for working out the emergency response protocol of accidents, provide reliable evidences of assistant management for government's supervision and management to the safety in production and bring production management of synthetic ammonia enterprises into modern safe management mode. The safety situation of ammonia production in the future can be predicted by grey theory GM(1,1). Prediction result can be regarded as important science gist for safety management and safety decision-making of chemical enterprise and safety supervision department.
