Ammonia is the indispensable material of chemical industry. With the sharp increase in the number of synthetic ammonia plants, the accidents happen frequently. Therefore it is of great realistic significance that the main selection object in the plant is studied and analyzed. A synthetic ammonia plant in Henan province has been chosen as the main research object, and an ammonia leakage accident survey is made with analysis. A model based on this accident is given out to be analyzed. The general situation of the plant is introduced, and the risk harmful elements are identified.The individual typical object (such as methanol storage tank, storage tank of liquid ammonia) of the synthetic ammonia plant is analyzed and discussed. Different methods and models are used to be analyzed to make sure which methods are better used in particular part. The empirical equation is used to analysis the methanol leakage accident, to get the leakage rate, leakage radius, combustion rate and the fire flames radius, flame height and thermal radiation intensity when the pool fire is happened. The scientific supports for the company to formulate the emergency programs and rescue plans may be provided by the simulation consequence. By using PHAST software to build the factory methanol leakage accident model, the concentration range when methanol leaks but isn’t burnt and the radiation intensity range when the leak methanol becomes jet fire or pool fire is obtained.Using FDS establish methanol leakage fire accident model, the simplified model of burning tank is obtained, and the development rule of methanol fire hazard of methanol tank is discussed. After comparing the several accident models, choosing the higher applicability PHAST model to analysis the storage tank of liquid ammonia. The familiar form of leakage has been chosen. The area of influence of each type of accidents such as toxic hazard, fire and explosion, is provided through the simulation analysis by the Process Hazard Analysis Software Tool. The fit equations and the general rules are given out.The scientific supports for the company to formulate the emergency programs and rescue plans may be provided by the simulation consequence.
