Ibuprofen (2-(4-isobutylphenyl) propionic acid) is one of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) that exhibit favourable anti-inflammatory, anal-gesic and antipyretic properties. It is well known that most of the anti-inflammatory drugs are carboxylic acids in which the carboxylate group is available for metal-ligand interaction. In this paper,11 complexes of rare reath and Co,Zn of ibuprofen and phennathroline are stnthesized and characterized. The interaction of complexes with BSA was studied by ultra-violet spectroscopy, fliuorecene spectroscopy. In addition, the antibacterial activity of complexes and ibuprofen was also studied. The studies were performed on three parts as bellow:PartⅠSynthesis and characterization of Zn,Co and rare earth complexes with ibuprofen and 1,10-phennathroline.Eleven complexes of rare reath and Co,Zn of ibuprofen and 1,10-phennathroline are stnthesized. Its structure has been determined by means of elemental analysis, molar conductance, IR,1H-NMR and DSC-TG.The results showed that their formulas are M (ibp) 2phen·H2O (M:Zn,Co) and RE(ibp)3phen (RE:La,Ce,Pr,Nd,Sm,Gd,Dy,Er,Ho).PartⅡThe antibaeterial activity of the complexesThe vitro antibacterial test is a simple, low cost, effective method for antibacterial drug. The results indicated that all compounds have a certain antibacterial activity, and the antimicrobial activity of the complexes was enhanced according toibuprofen itself. The activity of rare earth complexes was superior to the Zn,Co complexes.PartⅢThe interactions of complexes and bovine serum albuminThe interaction of complexes with BSA was studied by means of ultra-violet spectroscopy and fliuorecene spectroscopy.1 Ultra-violet spectroscopyUnder the imitated physiologieal pH condition of animal body,UV difference spectroscopy was used to study molecule interaction of complexes with serum albumin. The results showed that with the BSA concentration increased, the end absorptionintensity of complexes decreased. The absorption peak at 216nm was disappeared and the absorption peak at 232nm was red shift. This indicated that the interaction of complexes with serum albumin took place, and complexes and BSA combined together.2 Fluorescence spectroscopyTo solve the overlapping fluorescence spectra from complexes,so"fluorescence background subtracting(FBS)method"was used to study molecule interaction of complexes with serum albumin. The results showed that this spacies have quite strong ability to quench the fluoresence launching of BSA. By analyzing the fluorescence quenching date according to the corresponding plot of F0/F versus [Q],it was found that the quenching process was static quenching.According to the equation (1g[(F0-F)/F]=1g[K]+n 1g[Q]),the binding constant"Ka"and the number of binding site"n".
