The large-scale coal mining although promoted the national economic has also created a large number of environmental problems, such as mining waste pileing, mining environment pollution, the reduction of biodiversity, land subsidence, the falling of groundwater level, the increased soil erosion and other problems. Energy development has caused many environment problems that brought serious harm and restricted the social sustainability. In this article,I made Da Liuta Town as an example, useing the Remote Sensing and Geography Information Systems technology for monitoring and analyseing the impact of energy development on the ecological environment which included:①I analyszed the impact of the environment which caused by energy development from the natural conditions and socio-economic situation in Da Liuta Town:ground subsidence, ground fissure and gangue stacking on the ground that caused land resources severely damaged and polluted; coal mining caused the falling of groundwater level which made the rivers and springs disappeared, and vegetation died; air pollution index exceeded seriously; a waste of coal resources is prodigious.②I executed the geometric correction, statistics of the general parameters about spectral characteristics, correlation analysis, principal component analysis, the best band combinations and so on,for the 1989,2002 and 2007 years'TM images. Through the various aspects analysis,I found the best band combination in 1989 is TM541,in 2002 is TM543, and in 2007 is TM543. Then I made it as the main data source of the dynamic analysis about ecological environment in this energy area.③through the analysis of green vegetation's spectral features and the best band combination of vegetation, I extracted the vegetation information, and used the NDVI method and the difference method to monitor the vegetation conditions in Da Liuta.I also made the NDVI maps and the vegetation condition maps for the three years. From the study I found that Da Liuta's vegetation cover has increased overall, but appeared severe vegetation degradation along the Ulanmulun river from 1989 to 2007.The increasing vegetation is mostly grass and bush, but the trees occurred death due to the mined-out collapse which caused the falling of groundwater level.④I extracted the river, the water district caused by collapse and others that used supervised classification method on basis of the non-supervised classification method. From the interpretation of the images I found there was little water district in 1989, but increased a little in 2002 and increased more in 2007. Half with the growth of the mining years and increasing mining intensity of the exploitation, collapse water areas is increasing largely and more concentrated in the vicinity of Da Liuta mine.⑤Useing the collapse related theory to analyse the land damage of the mining subsidence areas found that the depth ratio is 6.13-6.87 in Da Liuta. The ratio is much less than 20 and the overburden of coal fields is mainly sandstone, pink sandstone, and sandy clay. All aspects of the rock are in low intensity, so the large scale collapse is the inevitable result and a reflection of the objective condition. Through the analysis of the atmospheric conditions found that the TSP's content, the content of SO2, and the content of nitrogen-oxygen compounds have seriously exceeded. The atmospheric pollution is serious in this mining.⑥Through the analysis of the ecological environment in mining, I proposed some measures and proposals. We must insist on the energy development and environmental protection equal principle and provide theorys for the sustainable development of mining which can embark on the sustainable development. Finally, I summarized the previous studies, and discussed the shortcomings in the study in the hope of improving these shortcomings in the future studies.
