| Widespread and long-lasting mix of snow, sleet and freezing rains has often pummeled South China.The damage had caused many wires broken, cable pylon collapsed and many communication lines interrupted. The meteorological hazards generated great damages. In order to handle the damage more effectively, to gain data about electric wire concerning ice accretion, accurate observation in electric wire concerning ice accretion is becoming more and more important.The observation about the degree and form in wire icing are still performed by hand in meteorological observation departments at present. Weather staff needs to measure Thickness of ice accretion which adhered to the Ice-Accretion-Frame. On the basics of experience, when ice accretion was thought to reach maximum level, they removed the ice and measured it. Detection by hand, results inefficiency and low accuracy, and it's not good for proposition on protective suggestions and the experiences accumulation on ice accretion.This paper presents a design of automatic data collection system for real-time observation of wire icing data avoiding the problems of data lacking continuity and large calculation errors resulted from artificial observation. When ice accretion appears, the data of icing intensity can be converted from force signals which were received by the sensor. Deformation occurred on the sensor, weak current change sensed by the sensor will be sent to the data collection terminal, and then sent to A/D676 to be sampled and data processed in PC 104.Besides, the design achieves the data-storage in optimal time interval set by software, and data real-time display if necessary. Only set several simple parameters by operators can the system work automatically avoid data collection by hand in nasty weather.The monitoring system of the electric wire about ice accretion is built on the frame of electric wire used in the meteorological technical standards. After the performance test in Weining county, Guizhou province, the system monitors the continuous datum of ice accretion weight. Take advantage of this system, weather staff could observe a complete period about ice accretion intuitively. It achieves the expected objective, and provides the correct and reliable datum for the meteorological department forecasting ice rain and freeze etc. This work realized the ice data acquisition from manual measurement to automation measurement. The investigation and the subsequent research will establish the solid foundation of weather forecasting and warning based on the meteorological technical standards. |
