The use of large-scale road maintenance machinery is an important symbol of railway construction works for achieving modernization of the operations, specialization, mechanization, and its domestic research is an important subject of Chinese current railway equipment. As one of the large-scale maintenance machinery, the tamping machine is used to railway conservation. Automatic Guidance Computer system (AGC) is the key technology on the tamping machine. For a long time, the use of the automatic guidance system of our country is mainly imported from abroad, we has't been independently successful developed the system.This paper deeply studied tamping machine automatic guidance system, and independently successful developed AGC system. The main works of this paper is outlined as follows.1. According to the working principle of tamping machine, the basic workflow of AGC system was given and the overall design of the system was completed. Also based on user's needs, the system's modulars were designed by using the software structured implementation. And the data in AGC system was detailed analyzed, used. NET interface technology to design AGC system communication interface. According to the ideological of multi-threaded, AGC sysrem multi-tasking scheduling was given.2. AGC system's actual operating environment of the tamping machine was detailed analyzed, CF card was used as the computer's main memory Because the CF card capacity and data read and write limits, AGC system must be running in the embedded operating system platform.The paper's highlighte is the complement of customizing Windows XP Embedded operating system software as the platform for AGC.3. AGC system parameter configuration is the more important work of all service modules. In this paper, parameter module reflection mechanism to bring about the relevance of data and interface controls was realized. And use serialization technology to complete the parameter data access work.4. Based on user's requirements and system environment, account to the software usability principles, the system's usability was complete from the three aspects:software functions were enhanced, the use of software features by keyboard operation was achieved, and system Interface was optimally designed. 5. After a series of comprehensive tests and practical applications of AGC system, the results show that the AGC system interface run well, features are practical, fully meet the needs of tamping machine operation. Finally, the problems still exiting and the future research direction were summarized, and the prospect of this paper was elaborated.
