The "comfortable" Style Of Urban Public Toilet Design And Culture Study

With the development of society, urban public toilet will become a product which is a symbol of human civilization. Public toilets reflect the relationship between city-life and public directly, reflect the subtle consideration and humane care to the public which is a detail of the city, and also reflect the level of civilization, as well as city's cultural taste. With the development of Chinese economy and urban construction, the usage-requirement of public toilets will be more and more important, but the design of public toilets has been overlooked and ignored for a long time.As well as the "comfortable houses" would be the pursuit of living standard, the "comfortable-type" public toilets could also become the standard of urban public toilet design. Take the economy of our country, urban construction, the public needs into considered, the authors put forward the theory, which pay more attention to the construction of beautiful environment, the features, the usage of comfortable, and the cultural characters which is the concept of public toilet "comfortable-type". First of all, through market study, research, interview, first-hand information collection, the paper starting from the status of city to clarify and reach a conclusion about realistic analysis as follow:Firstly, diversification of functional requirements for people in urban public toilets has been made more and more prominence. Secondly, the urban public toilets are being in the stage of "liberal-difficulties" type and transition stage from "economy" to "comfortable". Thirdly, there are amount of undesirable aspects in current urban public toilet. finally, they still have many regional differences in urban public toilets.From the view of environmental system art design, this article separate urban public toilets into two levels:the macro level about building and outside environmental design, the micro level about interior design in detail. With the situation of China's urban public toilets, existing problems, environmental design systematic design theory, integration, and dynamic characteristics of public toilets design, it is very important to optimize the various factors so as to make all levels, various sub-systems and every element to adapt well to the overall needs in the whole system.Through the analysis of this article, the author put forward four conclusions about the city "comfortable-type" public toilets design:1. The "comfortable-type" public toilets design need to be guided by Environmental Art System Theory;2. The design of toilet culture is an effective measure to enhance the grade of public toilets;3. The "comfortable" in "comfortable-type" public toilets is not equivalent to "luxury";4. "Comfortable-type" public toilet design is the theme of urban public toilets development.This paper don't merely provide an ideal design and a widespread blueprint of design, from the view of general public and systematic research, it provide many guiding principles, objectives and targets for the urban public toilets design during current and future period of time, in order to make the modest contribution for building harmonious society.
