Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has found widespread applications in the field of electric transmission as it has a seriers advantages like smaller volume,lighter weight,more simple structure,reliable operation.Two stage matrix converter(TSMC) is a member of the matrix converter family,it inherits all the advantages of the family:nice power quality in input and output side of matrix converter,controllerable input power factor,bidrectional power flow,without bulky energy storage components,compact structure and so on,meanwhile TSMC also has its own characteristics just like more simple control and commutation strategy,also more simple clamp circuit compared with Single stage matrix converter.The application of vector control technology has enabled PMSM to possess as good performance as that of DC motors and become the preference of modern drive systems.In this paper,the matrix converter is used as a power converter device to drive permanent magnet synchronous motor,and employ the vector control algorithrm to realize efficient control motor speed.the paper gives the topological structures and presents the designed filter in input side of TSMC,then it focus to the control strategy,Simulation is carried out to prove the analized modulation. after that,Mathematical model of Permanent magnet synchronous motor is created,then the current PI controller on DQ coordinate and speed PI controller of PMSM are designed with the Frequency-domain design method when the TSMC is equivalent to one-order inertial link.in order to improve speed's static and dynamic performance and the anti-interference characteristics,Speed sliding mode controller is designed,the Simulation results prove that the speed's performance and the anti-interference characteristics using sliding mode controller are better than those of PI controller.A method to measure the initial position of the rotor on PMSM is also introduced.A prototype based on DSP microprocessor is developed.Hardware diagram and Software Program module diagram and flow chart of the prototype are presented.On the prototype experiments are made and the results also validate the analized control strategy.the work in this paper would be good solid foundation to design and develop PMSM electric transmission system with high performance controlled speed and good quality power quality.
