The cooler control system of main transformer in Yanzhen Transformer Substation has been aging damage as long-running, and completely lost control of the function. All the switching units which judge the cooler function or stop were operated by station staff, and result in the reliability of SLOF power supply the greatly reduced. In order to improve power supply reliability, to meet the power needs of SLOF, combined with Yanzhen Transformer Substation, using station equipment opportunities for transformation, the transformer cooling system adapted to the development of the company and make its own contribution to the SLOF. In this design of system reform, the Simens S7-200 PLC was used as the controlling core of the cooling system, and the cooling system was achieved some functions such as monitor the status of the cooling system power supply situation, according to temperature changes combined with a switching temperature Margin controlling method, according to running time switching control method to achieve cooling system air handling units with automatic closing and function, to locate equipment failure and dispatches alarm signals, to achieve local control and so on. The system is legitimate, feasible and convinient in design, and now functioning in good condition, basically meet the production needs. With the integrate communicating module, it is achievable that founding the integrated automatic substation.
