Based on one-dimensional Method of Characteristics (MOC), a numericalmodel of pressure-wave progation if presented in this paper. A special code isprogrammed to analyze and calculate waterhammer resulted from rapid opening orclosing of valve in the experimental sodium loop of Fast Breeder Reactor (FBR). Inthe model, pipe friction and gravity are considered for pressure-wave progation.Furthermore, elastic deformation of pipes and pipe supprts are studied. Inner andouter boundary conditions, such as pump, embranchment, elbow, valve, and addedsodium-cavity are ihcluded. Model of bubbles' discrete distribution is adopted tosimulate generation and collapse of the bubble with the pressure's decreasing andincreasing. The results demonStrate that the model of pressure-wave progation isvatid.
