Vehicle ride dynamics is a branch of vehicle dynamics. Mathematical modeling and simulating are the most useful method to study vehicle ride dynamics.Mathematical models include two kinds: linear and nonlinear for vehicle ride dynamics. Nonlinear mathematical model of a shock absorber is studied and researched first in order to discovering the error between linear and nonlinear. One front shock absorber and one rear shock absorber in the XIALJ car are selected to be experimented. In this way, one group of parameter values are defined for a new nonlinear mathematical model of shock absorber based on experiment data and Besinger抯 nonlinear mathematical model.The second, four free degrees for a half car is to be aji object to study. A linear and a nonlinear mathematical model for a half car are developed.Road profile of discrete events, such as the convex, the arched, the wave, etc. are selected and simulation is carried out. One group of curves are given. A relative error function is selected to discuss the error between linear and nonlinear mathematical models.The results will be important to parameter design for vehicle ride dynamics system.
