According to the demand of the revision of CSDB (Dec, 1999), the program for thespectrum-based staic.elastic-plastic analysis of R.C. frame-shear wall structure is written by thefinite element method. Not only does this program have the advantage of connecting with CSDBof China, it is convenient for application as well. Using the program, we can get the whole failureprocess, the failure mechanism, the internal force characteristics and the weak parts of theframe-shear wall structure when it is suffering the lateral seismic action. Furthermore, comparingthe analysis results with the response spectrum for design, which is adopted by the current CSDB,if the structore satisfies the demand of earthquake protection or not can be known. Comparisonsbetween the results calculated by the program and that of the test indicate that they are analogical.Using the program, both the model structure and the prototype of the longitudinal frame-shearwall structure system of main factory building in a large thermal power plant are analyzed, fromwhich we get the regular pattern of earthquak resistant behaviors of this kind of structure andpropose the recommends for both seismic design and construction. Besides, the weak points ofthe bearing capacity-based seismic design method which is adopted by the current CSDB(GBJ11-89) are pointed and some proposals are given.
