Especiafly in the b~,vut and design of p~r net, how to find the highest reliability project in existence, or to find the weakest segment of power network are very important The department can spend the limited capital on the weakest segment to Improve its reliability. Whkh can come true by using the modem times theory of reliability and with the ad of advanced technokgy of computer.In this paper reliability evaluation is discussed by the two dassk~al methods in power system: Monte Carlo simulation and analysis, and the reliability equivalent model is investigated respectively in detail. Based on the analysis of system running in noim and N-I faults, the state analysis approach of the system is descnbed. One city power network~s reliability parameters are calculated using a C program. Based on it, the whole system reliability is evaluated and lie weakest parts can be found and enhanced.After the two methods being analyzed, the superiority and inferior positions of the two methods are compared to ascertain their application areas.
