Special shaped R.C. columns (usually L-shaped, T-shaped or Crisscross section) have been used widely in civil engineering field in recent years on account of their superiority. The behavior of special shaped R.C. columns subjected to biaxially eccentric loading has been a constant concern for structural engineers in designing safe buildings economically. While its design and calculation have many defaults, which needs further research. Therefore there is a necessity to develop special software to design and analyze this kind of structure. In the paper, the behavior and the variation regularity of bearing capacity of special shaped R.C. columns, subjected to axial compression and biaxial bending are obtained. The problem, how to calculate the bearing capacity of arbitrary section subjected to biaxially eccentric loading, has been solved by coordinate transformation and digital iteration methods. By means of these methods, programming becomes easier.A new and proper finite element model for special shaped frame structure analysis is presented. The 3-dimension bar element is introduced in this paper.A large three-dimension structure analysis program SSFSCAD, with powerful function of pre-process and post-process, is developed under the windows 98. A construction column table of special shaped section is obtained in the paper. The program proved to be reliable and convenient and computing results to be exact in comparison with examples. A powerful tool is provided for analysis and research on this kind of structure.
