Side Of The Atrium Space In Public Buildings

In recent years, side-opened space, which is an animate medium space form, is applied in public building design more and more. This paper sums up fundamentally the evolution and application in design of side-opened space, with classified method.There are three parts in this paper. Firstly, with analyzing the three evolution ways, or three processes of side-opened space, this paper open out its process from simply satisfying function to combining with environment and ecology. Secondly, the paper analyzes the characteristics of side-opened space in concrete design. Thirdly, with some design practices that the author has been participated in, this paper analyzes the important effect to be an organic combination of buildings and environment form the view of concrete cases.
