The architectural form and style of Germany occupation period completely reflects the effect made by European and German architectural classes at that time. Therefore the city of Qingdao is a shadow of European esp. Germany modern city planning and construction style in China. It is a continuity of western modern architects to China and an example of the impinge and combination between Chinese and western cultures. The later city architects development of Qingdao show the impact of western architectural culture through those buildings which plays an important role in Chinese modern architectural history.This paper mainly studies religious, administrative and resident buildings of Germany occupation period. Firstly , the paper states Germany society and its architectural background of both beginning and ending of the era through collection and textual research of relevant materials so that we can have a complete understanding to Germany architectural styles and garden-like city at that moment. Secondly, the paper selects several relatively typical examples of those buildings to have the practical research and mapping. The paper makes a profound analysis and discussion about the features of those buildings through the first hand materials and relevant references. From the architectural angle, the paper analyzes those buildings' history, layout, individual building and its details to have a full understanding about architectural style and main feature of Germany occupation period through study of historical material and research on relics. Based on the above study, the paper analyzes and estimates those buildings' values in the aspects of history, arts and science and brings about the opinion that the meaning to protect those buildings is to protect their historical values. Meanwhile, the paper also analyzes the relationship between those buildings and development of city and architects, cultural exchanges and social lives of Qingdao people. Thus , the architects of this period have been made a complete evaluation through internal and external aspects in order to prove that those buildings should be protected.
