In the paper, the study of computer aided design and analysis of high -rise steel structure is introduced, which is the subsystem of the Intelligence-aided Design System of High-rise Steel Structure, undertaken by College of Civil engineering of Hunan university. The paper is composed of preprocess, structural static finite element analysis and first step post-process. The paper first summarizes the domestic and overseas' development of tall buildings, especially high steel building, and illuminates the status and existing problems of the high steel build CAD software. At the preprocess part of this paper , it shows how to realize the preprocess system of the tall building structure analysis and design software-FSWAS under the condition of visual C++ 6.0 translation and editor system , based on the object -oriented programming and the Microsoft Foundation Classes. It also researches and realizes the hierachical class system for the structure components. In the load calculator part, the paper lucubrates the calculation of wind force considering the spatial effect. In the structural static finite element analysis part, the paper studies how to realize the structural static analysis modulate by the method of spatial finite element. Spatial bar element with shear deformation taking into consideration is used to simulate column and beam members, and spatial wall elements is used to simulate shear wall . At the end of this part ,the paper studies how to automatically divide the general wall element into shell elements, according to the theory of substructure. In the post-process module, it studies the design of beam and column , as well as the realization of the design. As a examination question, the paper uses the FSWAS to analysis the Tokyo sunny mansion.
