For the economic and architectural benefits,waffle slabs supported by corner columns of panels are being used increasingly in flate-plate structure for large-span frameworks ,but there is limited information on these structures in the elastic-plastic stage as well as in limite states.This paper presents results obtained from tests on a full scale test of a two-square-panel reinforced concrete waffle slab supported on 6 corner columns under short-term uniformly distributed loads.The behavior of the waffle slab pointed out the general advantages of waffle slabs.This includes bending moment distribution as well as the uniform pattern of deflections and cracks in the structure when overloaded.Based on the test and the study of the combined collapse of beams and slabs, the mechanisms of failure and the magnitude of destructive loads for selected load patterns of waffle slabs supported by corner columns of panels are considered.Comparison between theoretical analysis and test results has been done, it shows that the calculation values are rather smaller than the test values. A calculation method of deformation for waffle slabs supported by corner columns of panels is provided in this paper based on the results tested by authors and others .With increasing of the loads.the elastic-plastic behavior of reinforced concrete will lead to redistribution of internal force of multi-span reinforced concrete waffle slabs supported by corner columns of panels ,and the bending moments distribution of wild beams and joists will be changed. Recommendations for these effects on design are disscused.
