Compressor is a key component of aero-engine which performance depends on compressor design in great extent. Blade design plays an important role in aerodynamic design of compressor. New design software is very helpful to improve compressor performance.Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) is a new method developed in recently years. This paper presents a new blade design procedure to create blade geometry based on NURBS, which is currently used in the field of Computer-Aided Geometric Design(CAGD).The method can be used in mean camber curve, profile and trailing edge of the blade section. In addition the whole blade can be defined by NURBS surface. The advantage is that the each stacked profiles could be described by four NURBS curves, and shows agility and unify. This is very useful in some optimization process and engineering design. The shape definition of the compressor blade is based on some geometric parameters, such as angles of inlet and outlet, length of the chord, thickness distribution etc. At present most commercial CAD software don't sustain these functions usually, which results in that the adjustment of these parameters is expensive in time and very complex. It is necessary to have a good interactive CAD software for the compressor blade design, which could provide a familiar interface, input data commonly used and method to the design engineers. At last the software must have such output data as it could be used for detailed design, analysis, and blade making process. For this purpose, the author has developed a new CAD software for the design of the compressor blades. A modularization method is used to make it have a goodcharacter of inherit, which would be an excellent base for the continuous work later. In addition, some numeric tests are also carried out on this system, and a satisfied result has been obtained to prove the potential validity and practicability in the future.
