After the earlier stage research of the rear-end collision warning system ,we had gained some achievements. I have studied carefully the problems existed in the earlier stage and corrected some of them.The text has modified the model of safe following distance. On the basis of analyzing the collision warning algorithm for rear-end collision, this paper puts forward the conception of "the most dangerous moment"and builds up the formula of the critical safety distance between two vehicles moving on the same trace of highway in various sports states. The text has simplified and unified the algorithm for the warning system. The model of safe following distance can not only avoid the accidents from back vehicles but also have no effect on the capability of traffic. With regard to some design of the model of safety following distance, I have made the scientific questionary in order to know clearly and accurately the habit operation of driver.This text has increased the digital filtering according to different characteristics. The warning system uses AT89C55 as main chip and system control program has been designed by MCS-51 language. Through debugging the program, it has been testified that the system operation is reliable, and the warning logic has achieved the design requirement.
