In this paper, with the dynamical model of milling machine, the power change regular and influence factor between travel system and cutter system of this machine is analyzed, and a new concept named adaptive power control is put forward. At the same time, the feasibility of applying PLC on adaptive power control system of milling machine is analyzed, and a mathematical model about adaptive power control system is set up. And the hardware design and software design according to the functional requirements of adaptive power control system and the features of PLC are accomplished. Moreover, two control programs, the PED control and the subsection control, are drawn up. At last, according to the two control programs, a indoors simulative test is carried out, which testifies the feasibility and reasonableness of the designed control system.
