As the base of a car, a frame, on which most of the components and assembly are positioned, supports all the loads of the automobile. Research on the loading characteristic of the car frame not only is the groundwork of the design and optimization of a frame, but also is of great importance for the whole performance of a car. With the development of computer and computation technology, finite element method (FEM) has become a effective tool for the static and dynamic analysis of a car frame. In this thesis, the application of FEM in the special cars' frames has been studiedIn the chapter 1 of this thesis, the basic principle of FEM is introduced, and the application of FEM in static and dynamic analysis of a car frame is discussed briefly, considering its structure and load properties. In the chapter 2, based on elastic mechanics and variation principle, the fundamental and process of static and dynamic FEM is presented, placing special emphasis on the modal superposition method. In the chapter 3, Algor FEAS (also called Super SAP), a commercial FEM software is introduced; several.problems in building the finite element model of a auto frame is researched; taking advantages of FEM and mathematic programming, a strength analysis method of the frame of a series multi-spindle hydropneumatic suspension automobile is proposed; taking the structure and load characteristic of a missile's frame into account, the static, eigenvalue and response analysis have been made by using Super SAP91.In chapter 4, the leading work is summarized, and future research on the application of FEM in special automobile's frame is proposed.
