In china, hydroelectric construction is been prosperous developed. Many large arch-dam which is high and thin will be built on rivers. However the experience about design of high arch-darn is not enough in deep valley, especial when the dam is located in the areas of intensive earthquake. Therefore the study of three dimension earthquake response is great significant in reality and history to the hydroelectric construction.The 292m high Double curved arch-dam which will be built on Xiaowan hydropower station is the topmost Double curved arch-dam in the world. The feasible study of Xiaowan Double curved arch-dam aseismatic analysis resulted, there are internal partly high stress in the dam at basis situation, in earthquake response and in the construction.the structure shoud be modified to meet the need of low stress. This article is part of the study of national item which is important part of high arch-dam earthquake protection. In the result of studying the effect to earthquake, the article analysis dam-stress at diference earthquake wave, to procure design parameter on the gate & pier areas. The main component of this article is study arch-dams stress distribution in difference earthquake and difference water level with finite element analysis. And the study compare the adversed stress distribution on the position whether existed opening hollow areas and pier or not.The result of the study included two aspect: one is the affection when hollow opened and pier on arch-dam with statics calculation, earthquake response spectrum analysis and analysis of time-history i.e step-by-step integration analysis. The study result indicated that the free vibration of the dam will be affect by opened hollow and pier added on dam. For vibration mode-shape, this affect is moreseverity on high rank stage vibration than low. With opened hollow and pier added on dam,the frequency of vibration decline. Although the array of low rank vibration mode-shape is changed, the dynamic characteristic of the dam not in evidence change. On the other hand, the calculation on difference earthquake wave show: the spectrum of earthquake wave will affect dynamic property of structure like long period of Xiao Wan dam. Two is study dynamic stress of earhthquke response, to get the support data of reinforcement in hollow areas. The study result that there is slightly stress concentrated in the aera of the dam which with opened hollow and pier added. By the tension stress is more over the design intension, we need more reinforcement to resisted the stress.
