The work situation of the crawler bulldozer is very hard. The frames of bulldozers is the key parts which connect mainframe with bearing elements on ground The loads on frames are so great that the frames are liable to cause deformations as to affect the normal work of bulldozers. According to the mechanical conditions of TY220 crawler bulldozer, the strength analysis and test research for the frames under different operations are proceeded. The main contents included in this paper as follows:1. In this paper, mechanical conditions of the frames under the most dangerous operations are analyzed. The azimuths of the central principal axes of the dangerous sections on the frame of bulldozer are determined. The inertia moments to the central principal axes of the dangerous sections on the frame are calculated. This paper also determines the positions of the dangerous points and calculates the stress values of dangerous points on the dangerous sections.2. Three kinds of calculating operation for the bulldozer are given The finite element calculating models are founded. The static construction strength analyzes are proceeded to the frame of TY220 bulldozer. The dangerous area and its position are found out.3. In this paper, three kinds of static test operations are given such as the shovel descended with the front-end of the bulldozer lifted, the ridger descended with the rear-end of the bulldozer lifted, the shovel and the ridger descended with the whole body of the bulldozer lifted The static tests for the frame of TY220 bulldozer are proceeded. The result of finite element analysis is contrasted with that of experiment The mechanical model and the result of finite clement analvsis are verified by experiment And the theoretical bases are provided for the improving design of frames4 According to the results of calculations and tests, the suggestion is presented for improving the design of the frame of TY220 bulldozer...
