The ancient town of Quanzhou has notable features and profound cultures. The form of the many traditional buildings has their distinct characters and rich local colors. They are the city's "soul" as well as the key element of the city's human culture. Catching on and extending the culture will enhancing the temperament and quality of the city.Based on understanding the background of Quanzhou's traditional buildings and comparing them with other buildings, the author started with their composition, trying to analyze traditional buildings with rational point of view. The article extracts three methods of design for traditional buildings. They organize the rational order though three elements: Shadow, Strew at random and Unit, which are frequently used and could organize the rational order independently. The three elements are not special, especially the frequency they being used, the way they being organized and their effects. Three complete sequences with rational orders respectively formed by these three elements framed the complex architectural style for the ancient Minnan buildings, which avoid disordered architectural forms. Meanwhile, the article discussed the local aesthetic point of view-sense of rhythm and the fond of outdoor small measure; it searched the venation for the development of the three methods.Then using the three methods as the hub, the author analyzed utilization the methods have used on temples, such as the Confucian Literary Temple, the Buddhism Kaiyuan Temple and the Buddhism Chengtian Temple in aspects of building connection, modus operandi of wall and detailed part; which not only shows the widespread use of the three methods but also shows diversity of the three methods during their development. In this part, the author gave some theoretical analysis for the development of the three methods.Integrating the modem buildings that have been built in Quanzhou City to the article, the author finally gave a summary about the basic function, extended function of the three methods. In the final part of the article, the author discussed the architectural originality, describing a farm in Tibet that may be regarded as scenery but could deeply deduce the modern people's comprehension about Tibetan Culture as the final tag. This shows the author's great favor and court for architecture with full-bodied regionality and originality.
