The motor is the source of power, therefore, it is important to protect the motor reliably and effectively. An advanced intelligent protection equipment for the asynchronous motor is discussed in the thesis. The protection equipment is based on over-current value, zero-phase-sequence component, negative-phase-sequence component and other protection criterions, which contain the following features: in protection theory, it realizes the intelligent fault diagnosis based on the expert system; in data collection, it uses a high-performance but low-cost VFC data collection system; in hardware system, a powerful 16-bits processor-Intel 80C196MC is installed as the core of processor system. Also, the protection have the following functions: display in Chinese, operation with menu-guided software, storage of fault data for fault recording, fault diagnosis, parameter setting simple and flexible, perfect protection functions and so on. Furthermore, a kind of Field Bus-CAN Bus is applied to the motor protection equipment, which has high reliability, simple framework and convenient programming functions. At last, a motor protection network is introduced in the thesis based on CAN Bus, which includes two PC as the server and all the protection equipments as network nods.In this way, the automatic control, the centralized control and the intelligent self-disposal functions of the motor protection is realized.
