The explosive consolidation of metal powders has been studied in this paper from both experimental and theoretical aspects. It includes:1. Alloys powders of W-Ti are explosively consolidated using experimental set-up which designed and made by ourselves. The set-up consists of two co-axial tubes. The internal tube contains power and the external one is surrounded by explosive charge. The results show that the conpact has the best quality.2. A simple equation of state for a powder in dynamic compression is proposed: Us = C0P + λ0punp ,where Us is shock velocity, up is particalvelocity, and the method to determine the coefficients C0p, λ0p, n is introduced. Furthermore, a linear expression, Us = C0p, + λ0pup, can be used for the calculation of Hugoniots of shocked powders if the partical velocity upis less than 1km/s.The isentropic release of compacted powder is alsodescribed here.
