This dissertation is an item about "The Survey and Statistics of Loads and Resistances of the Residential Building Structure Reliability Technology" in the Central Plains Region, which is a subitem of China's The Tenth Five science and technology key problems item about Residential Building Structure System and Engineering Quality Insure Critical Technology. The Investigation, Statistic and Analyses of Steel Member Dimension Uncertainty in steelwork residential building are the fundamental purpose of this paper.Since the reform and opening, the speed of residential construction is very fast in our country. The living space per capita in city has increased from 3. 6rn2 to 9.78m2 since the year of 1978. The total population in our country has reached 1. 267 billion by 1999, and will reach 1.6 billion by the year of 2030. In the same time, urban population will reach 60% from 30. 9% present. Wherefore, the condition of urban house construction is quite austerity in our country. For its high strength, light deadweight, good earthquake-resistant behavior, smaller structural element dimension .high industrialization degree, as well as green and environmental protection , steel structure has developed fast in recent years. In consideration of the present house industry existing circumstance in our country, construction ministry takes steel structure house systematic exploitation and application as the breakthrough point in our country, and formulates "steel structure residential construction system industrialization technology guide rule" and "steel framework kernel canister residential construction system technology guide rule". It has become the priority investigative problems for the construction ministry to quicken the house industrialization and positiveness generalize steel structure hou-",o system in the last few years.In the course of machining manufacture, transport hoisting and operation use etc., steel construction tends to generate all kinds of deformation due to the external action. These deformation gives a direct influence to the machining manufacture and natural service of the member. The form of the structural deformation is various, but it is said from its essence, it can be divided into four primary forms: tension and compressive deformation, shear deformation, twisting deformation, bending deformation. Because of the character of plant. machining and in-place installation, the cause of deformation is also various, they mainly include: raw material deformation, cold-working course, thermal process,primarily welding process, pack deformation, and deformation generated in time of use. Deformation of steel members tends to generate major influence to the structure. The deviation of members' sectional physical dimension may give a direct influence to the calculation of resistance; the deviation of members' length and some major local deformation tend to influence the installation of structures; at the same time, the deviation of members' length and installation also tend to change the structural stressed state. Stabilization is a basic problem to the design of steel structure, members' initial deflection, members' .local deformation, and transformation of members' stressed state can influence the members' stabilization.The research and application of steelwork residential building in our country remain initial starting phase. The capacity of design organizations, processing factories and construction organizations are various. There are not enough practice experience and design data for the resistance of steel structure house system's basic structural element as well as steel .structure's production, construction and its quality control. Though has been the establishment of permissible variation's provision of steel members' productive and installment in "structural steelwork workmanship acceptance specification". But these provisions has been established on the base of processing and assembled practice experience, not on the base of statistics of these variations.Because of the large range of a...
