With the developing of economy of china, as the first city of economy, finance and shipping, of course, Shanghai is being the front of shipping in China. Shipping is developing at very fast speed and ship is developing toward greatness, little consuming and high efficiency. Now we can see the ship drove by electric power and ship with oars whose distance between them can be changed. In order to meet the requirement of the developing situation, the simulate center of Shanghai Maritime University undertook the project to develop a new generation power station which be used in the modernized ship drove by electronic power. This project is coming from Shanghai Education Committee.Field bus emerged at 1980s' and it is a new technology. Field bus realized a new network among the devices, and these devices are placed at the field of a factory to watch the situation or control the terminal devices. This communication and control network has become a new integrated and dispersive system, that is named as FCS (Fieldbus Control System).The shipping multi-mode electricity station system include generate electricity system, switch electricity system, generator system and network communication system. The main aim of the project is to set up the network system of the whole shipping electricity station and realize the live communication between the primary control room and the terminal devices. In addition, the live monitor of the each device in the station are also realized to make sure the practicability and dependability.MODBUS has been the default standard of the industry communication which is used in many industry device. In the project we make MODBUS as the communication network through the investigation and analyses of the popular bus. We developed the MODBUS device network card independently which integrate the data collection of the simulation quantity (thermocouple, thermo-resistance temperature,0-5V, 4-20mA standard signal) and switch quantity and realize the data-exchange between the MODBUS and the terminal devices. The MODBUS device network card make up thedisadvantage of the MODBUS devices in the market and meet the requirement of the shipping electricity station and the market.The design of the network of the shipping electricity station comprise industry- control computer local area network and the design of the MODBUS network During development of the software we use the dependent program to achieve given function according to the modularization and currency idea. We adopt the VB for the former, while the most efficient assemble language for the software design of the MODBUS.The paper consists of six chapters.1. Introduce the background and the basis of the project2. Introduce the development of the shipping electricity station and the general situation in the field.3. Introduce and compare each local bus exist in the market.4. Introduce the MODBUS device network card made independently from the hardware and software in detail.5. Introduce the project design of shipping electricity station in general.6. Summarize the outcome and the meaning of the project and make the simple expatiate about the project development.
