Power line is the most important and the last part of the power-system. With the development of automatization of power line, the requirement of using the power line as a communication channel to transfer the control-signal and data becomes more and more urgent. At the same time, the development of Internet requires more bandwidth. Updating the power line to the broadband network has a number of advantages. As a special network, its hostile channel properties such as complex topology, very low impendence, strong noise pollution, attenuation and time-variance must be considered.Based on above background, in this paper, we focus in a power line communication(PLC) system design and it's development. There are tow parties in this paper. In the first party, we analysis the system in theoretic and simulated it using SIMULINK, analysis the system design, the signal at every step and it's performance, based on it we put forward a method which is suitable to realize by hardware. Based on the first party, in the second party, we selected system level FPGA of XILINX as the main signal processor, using hard description language, and using top down method, we implemented the spread spectrum digital transmit machine. In implementing FIR filter and correlator, we use the resource rationally by using method of serial and combine of serial and parallel, and saving a lot of data in block RAM,.In chapter one we introduce the background of PLC. In chapter two, we descript the system structure, the theory of realization and analysis of every step of the spread spectrum digital transmit machine. In chapter three, we descript the realization of the spread spectrum digital transmit machine, emphases on the design of FPGA.
