On the basis of theory analysis of the working device's parameters about the twin-shaft mixer, the paper designed a twin-shaft mixer for test research. The mixer's working device was optimized synthetically by means of orthogonal test designs. The paper proposed a new idea to improve mixing performance, which is accelerating axial circulation along the shafts and strengthening adverse circulations among the two shafts. At the same time, it put forwards the dissuccessive arrangement's principles of mixing blades. The mixer in this paper was compared with the forced action mixer, double mixing-blades mixer and vibrating mixer. The results indicate that perfect mixing performance of concrete should be accomplished by proper cooperation of axial circulation and adverse circulation. Length-widen ratio of mixing trough should be less than 1. Phase angle of adverse circulation should be larger than mixing arm's phase angle on the single shaft. Mixing arms with double-positive-inerlaced and double-positive-parallel dissuccssive arrangements are recommended. If line-speed of mixing blades is choosed from 1.5m/s to 1.6m/s, mixing quality is better. Phase angle of mixing arms on single shaft should be smaller, and 60?are recommended. It is better to mixing qulity, when mixing blades are set at an angle of about 35.The optimized working device can improve mixing quality with smaller energy consumption and the organizations are simpler, so it is easly be industrialized.
