With the mass growth of the power system transmission parameter, the power system transmission parameter management system has become one important part of the management of the power systems. At the present time, Energy Management System (EMS) hasn't provided transmission parameter management function specially, The data saved in forms and files could hardly used. Therefore, It's necessary to develop a Visualized transmission parameter management system integrating with the Energy Management System (EMS).Currently, the development of the automatization in the power system is trending general automatization based on EMS / DMS. In developing, these existing application systems are built specialty, and theirs data and report form format are maybe not compatible, can not assure data consistency. In building the parameter visible management system, how to integrating with the Energy Management System (EMS) and how to assure the consistency, integrality, opening of data is a important department of the thesis.At the beginning of the thesis, the problems existing in present are introduced in this paper and the solutions are then given. It gives emphasis to expatiate Geographic Information System (GIS) and the common information model (CIM), and goes on the research at the view of technical application. Based on it, a method of GIS based parameter visible management system for electric power networks on Unix is introduced in this paper , and information communions of the automatization system of power systems is also discussed. This system is developed by C++Language using ODE (Open Development Environment) on the GIS platform ARC/INFO of ESRI. The Qt platform is used in the development and a CIM based database was established.
