Grid Short-circuit Current Limitation Measures Discussed

With the continuously developing of the power system, the fault current of the grid is consequently increasing. How to limit the fault current under a reasonable value has been one of the most urgent affairs.This article mainly discusses the different ways as a whole to limit the fault current on the different stand points. It includes: to improve the structure of the grid; to change the operation style; to utilize the fault current limiter(FCL); to utilize the current limiting reactor; to utilize the high impedance transformer. Among all these methods, the author focuses on the method of the section dividing based on the different voltage grades and the method of using the fault current limiter. The purpose of this article is to propose a holistic scheme in limiting the fault current of the grid.The object of computing and analysis of this article is to the Zhejiang Provincial Power Grid in the year of 2002 and 2003.
