The power system simulation software analyzes real power system through mathematical model and numerical method and it has become an indispensable tool. During planning, designing and operating of power system, simulation software can help us to confirm layout, study out operation mode, set parameters of automatics, analyze fault and so on. Moreover, its education function makes it play an important role in training students and personnel.This thesis firstly discusses simulation software's status quo and developing trend basing on summarizing characteristics of simulation software which is widely used in China and in the world.In the second place, this thesis introduces the main functions, characteristics and application of power system simulation software designed by DIgSILENT Co. of Germany. It offers comprehensive analysis of power system. The operation mode which is based on the Windows criterions and the new idea of data management make it different from others. The introducing of new function represented by model of wind power generation makes it have a nice developing foreground.Furthermore, the difference of date formats between different simulation software has become the greatest obstacle during popularizing new software. According to explanation of different software's models, this thesis codes the program which can convert data between DIgSILENT and familiar software in China - PSS/E and PSASP.In the end, as we know, there are many kinds of simulation software which is used in the front line of production and research, and there are also many differences among the software. This thesis discusses and compares the characteristics of power flow calculation function in DIgSILENT, PSS/E and PSASP, and thus provides some basic reference for customs to choose software.
