This paper studies the main functions and the system-flow of a large power-system analyzing software package named Eurostag and develops a data-conversion program integrated with the data of North China Network in 2000. This makes a significant contribution to the voltage stability study of North China Network based on Eurostag. Eurostag is a large simulation analysis software package used in power system developed by the EDF and TRACTEBEL of Belgium. The most prominent point of this software is that it covers the full range of the phenomena, from transient to long-term stability. That is to say that the time of simulation lasts from the electromechanical oscillations to the daily load evolution. Therefore we apply this software to the North China Network in order to study the voltage stability caused by the slow evolution of the load much more accurately than before.In order to convert the data of North China Network in 2000 into Eurostag quickly and correctly, the paper finishes two aspects of preparing work. One is the analysis of the data of North China Network in 2000 and classification of the data format and the models; the other is the comparison of BPA and Eurostag in the models' and parameters' definition. The rules of conversion between BPA and Eurostag are found.For the hugeness of the data of North China Network, it is impossibleto finish the conversion manually. So the data conversion program of BPA-Eurostag is developed. The program is proved to be effective by applying in the standard IEEE 9 nodes system and a one generator-one load system.
